Innovative solutions to border management challenges for trade facilitation in the east African community

Integrated Border Management (IBM) constitute an innovative solution to trade facilitation challenges in the East African Community (EAC). Through a content analysis, this paper presents and investigation into state of art for cross-border by means integrated border management systems EAC. Procedures clearing goods at posts are addressed vis-à-vis introduction automated document checking clearing. Evidence suggests that can be understood within narrow context IBM better from IBM’s perspective. The use ICT such as Electronic Single Window (E-SW) software, X-ray, gamma imaging, infrared sensors, heat sensing cameras, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), biometric data facial recognition, fingerprints iris scanning, Cargo System Truck Scanning Machines eloquent examples solutions resulted impact. Thus, have potential greatly improve customs processes thus contributing region. However, presence different agencies with multiple lines accountability organizational cultures calls enhanced coordination cooperation levels supply chain.
